| Matt Moley Named OW at PSAC Championships |
Moley, ranked fifth in the country, won his first PSAC championship in convincing fashion getting three first period pins in all of his bouts. The senior opened the day with a pin in 2:46 over Thad Frick of East Stroudsburg, then had a fall in 2:15 over Zack McKendree of Gannon; then knocked off Jarrett Hostetter of Millersville in 2:10 in the title match.
At 141 pounds, Hickman opened the tournament with a 10-7 win over Adam Hlueschak of East Stroudsburg, then, knocked off Nate Nauroth of Shippensburg in the semi-finals, 8-5. In the finals, Hickman posted a win by major decision, 10-2, over top-seed Joel Webster of Edinboro.
Graham defended his 174-pound championship with a 5-2 win over Chris Barrick of Shippensburg in the title bout. Graham started the day with a win by fall in 3:24 over Pat Carter of Mercyhurst, then, downed Steven Cressley of Clarion, 7-0.
Bloomsburg also had three second place finishes with Jason Guffey (Muncy/Warrior Run) falling in the finals at 125 pounds by an 8-2 score to Eric Morrill of Edinboro, ranked eighth in the country in his weight class. At 149 pounds, Josh Roosa (Mountain Top/Crestwood) lost in the finals to Brock Parker of Lock Haven 3-1 in sudden victory. In the 165 pound weight class Rick Schmelyun (New Oxford/Bermudian Springs) lost to Jarrod King, ranked second in the country, by a score of 4-0.
The Huskies also had three other placewinners. Jacob Dabashinsky (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) took third at 197 pounds, Zac Walsh (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) was fourth at 285 and Derek Coffey (Lewisburg/Lewisburg) fifth at 184 pounds.
The Huskies will be idle till Dec. 20 when they wrestle at the Buffalo Duals.
